Aura-Soma is a holistic color-centered healing therapy developed in 1983 by Vicky Wall that utilizes dual-colored Equilibrium bottles to bring an individual the knowledge necessary to fulfill one’s life purpose.
Mike Booth’s Aura-Soma Sourcebook describes the system as a “non-intrusive, self-selective color therapy designed to facilitate the connection between our light being and the light of our physical body. This connection, expressed primarily through color, helps us become more aware of the light within ourselves and of the living energies of light that surround us.”
In her autobiography Aura-Soma: Self-Discovery through Color, Vicky Wall describes prayer and meditation as being the inspiration that led to the creation of Aura-Soma.
Aura-Soma’s Equilibrium bottles are dual-colored and consist of color, crystals and plants. The upper half contains the plant’s oily extracts while the lower portion is made up of the plant’s water extracts.
Where other healing modalities, such as Aromatherapy and Herbology largely rely on the oil or water plant extract, respectively, the Aura-Soma system utilizes both making it not only unique, but multifaceted.
The practice of Aura-Soma is based on a person’s selection of four Equilibrium bottles. The sequences in which the bottles are chosen provide keys to “understanding past difficulties and reflect the need and potential for growth in one’s consciousness.” Vicky Wall was quoted as saying, “You are the colors you choose.”
There are 106 dual-colored Equilibrium bottles in the Aura-Soma system. The color of the top half represents what is more openly expressed and the lower fraction represents that with which we are less aware.
Bottle Meanings:
- The first bottle selected is called the “soul bottle” and reflects our purpose in this lifetime.
- The second bottle selected is known as the “challenge bottle” and represents our gifts and talents. It also helps us to understand the challenges that we will face in this life.
- The third bottle is the “here and now bottle” and shows “how our talents have been expressed thus far, as we have worked with our challenges.”
- The fourth bottle, or the “future bottle” shows us our future or what we are creating next in our lives.
An Aura-Soma consultant is the best person to speak with regarding the uses and meanings disclosed by your bottle choices. Each bottle has a name and a number that also affects the meaning behind your selection. In addition, each bottle numbered zero through 99 is paired with a tarot card, thus adding more significance to your choice of bottle.
This is a complicated system encompassing a variety of therapies including color, aroma, herb, chakra and numerology. Because Aura-Soma continues to evolve, it is an exciting treatment with enormous versatility and possibility.
