Building trust begins with building self-esteem - the valuing of the self through compassion and love.
Collective wisdom from Thomas Aquinas to the present speaks to the human relationship with God as built on trust. Foundational teachings about spirit are growing rapidly throughout the world. It is clear that people are becoming aware of their spiritual needs. Where religious paradigms were commonplace a half a century ago, now the familiar modalities include:
These modalities all contribute to building self-awareness. Self-awareness can take two main tracks: empowerment and healing. Empowerment As a Way to Find Self-Awareness Empowerment courses such as the one run by Tony Robbins’ are becoming the new religion. Workshops are springing up all over the world. The premise of these workshops is that the participants can learn to take control of the parts of their lives and overcome any obstacles that prevent them from realizing their full potential as self-aware and empowered individuals. Self-Awareness Through Mind-Body HealingOn the other end of the spectrum are the mind-body healing modalities. Proponents of these modalities, such as Caroline Myss and Ekhart Tolle, teach that getting in touch with your energy sources will reveal where pain is stored. Pain from the past is stored in the body and it inhibits the person from finding fulfillment and happiness. Finding out where that pain is stored will allow you to release the pain. Cellular HealingThe concept of cellular healing originates with Dr. Deepak Chopra. Dr. Chopra investigated why some people recover from serious illness and why some do not. He explored the genesis of wellness, as opposed to illness. He discovered that those who heal were able to get right to the heart of the illness and turn their lives around. He postulated that illness is connected to memory, and that memories are stored in the cells. Painful memories do damage to the human body and reveal themselves as different forms of illness. Getting access to those painful memories and releasing them is a main key to recovering from the illness. This principle forms the basis of Brandon Bays work called the Journey and Caroline Myss’ work on energy healing. Caroline Myss and the Sacred ContractMyss bases her work on bringing people to awareness of the Sacred Contracts that are playing out in their lives. She identifies what Carl Jung called the archetypes and she proposes that these archetypes run scripts within the individual. These scripts are played out in behaviours throughout their lives. Myss takes the reader through series of questions that will help identify the archetypes and the behaviours most active in their life. Identifying these behaviours makes it possible to stop the repeated unhealthy patterns and learn to live life innocently and with trust in a larger experience. Connecting With The DivineThe profound teachings of the great moral guides of humanity are all based on the principles of love and forgiveness. Freedom is shown to be a path of innocence and trust. Jesus teaches that the child has ready access to the divine and invites every one to return to this innocence that is based on trust and a sense of relationship with a loving universe. Mohammed’s teachings are founded on the belief in a loving God who will never abandon or betray. The Buddha pronounced that the divine exists in each and every individual as human goodness, and he invites the soul to open up to this truth continually. The source of wellness is that truth.
