Develop your Psychic Ability

Tips to Sharpen Your Sixth Sense

Jan 22, 2009 Linda Hatton

Psychic ability, sometimes also referred to as intuition, is a helpful tool that may aid in conflict resolution and lead to a more peaceful life.

Training yourself to recognize the difference between ego and intuition is an important key in developing psychic ability. Intuition is sometimes also referred to as a gut feeling; this name coming from the nature of vibrations where this feeling lives, in the abdomen area. The ego voice is often heard or “felt” in the head area.

Practicing the following tips will help to develop your own psychic ability.

Exercise Your Mind

 • Take two identical containers and place a dissimilar object inside each one. Practice placing your hand on the containers, guessing which one holds which item. Take a moment while your hand is on the box to notice any feelings in your body or any words that come to mind.
 • The process of keeping a dream journal and becoming aware of repetitive dreams may open up your awareness to issues needing your attention of which you are not aware in your waking life. Before bed write down a question you would like answered or a conflict you would like assistance in solving. Then in the morning write down your dreams in detail. If these dreams make no sense, place the journal aside and re-read it later.
 • Notice events which happen that are not part of your daily routine and note how they came to be. For instance, imagine you have an urge to go to a particular store that is a place you don’t normally patronize. Following this instinct, you find an object for which you had been searching to no avail before. When your shopping trip is complete, take notes as to how your shopping trip was inspired. Perhaps you heard about the store by eavesdropping on a conversation, made a wrong turn and came across this store by accident, or saw an ad from which you got a “feeling.” It’s important to open your sensitivity up to events that seem random.

Play with Your Senses

 • Find a comfortable place to sit down and relax yourself, but keep your eyes open, focusing on the material items surrounding you. Next, see the space between these items. Allow your eyes to relax, narrowing them, and attempt to see the aura around each object.
 • Sitting in a relaxed position, allow your focus to shift from each sound around you, one at a time. Pay special attention to minute sounds, such as the sound of your breath. For enhanced focus, write down these sounds as you hear them.
 • While meditating, visualize a zipper at the top of your forehead and going around the top of your head. Imagine this zipper being opened up, allowing sensitivity to sensations not normally in your realm of awareness.
 • Pay careful attention to events that happen around you, adopting the attitude that nothing is random. Being in a particular setting or situation may hold a message for you to assist in making changes in your life.

These are only a few tips on increasing sensitivity of the five senses, which in turn will help to open up the sixth sense, also known as intuition or psychic ability.

thank you linda for such an insightful analysis, I remember having recurring dreams about my grandparents' house; where I spent a lot of time as a child.
here is a tip for easy dream interpretation: if you have trouble remembering your dreams, keep a notepad next to your bed and when you wake up in the morning, write down what you remember as fast as possible, as you get into the habit, you will remember in more detail and you will remember all your dreams.
