The energy of the color violet will lead you to a mindset of being open to spiritual wisdom. Find ways to connect to this color in your habit of prayer or meditation.
In The Magician’s Reflection: A Complete Guide to Creating Personal and Magical Symbols & Systems (Llewellyn Publishing, 1999), author Bill Whitcomb says that “…because it is a mixture of red and blue, violet is sometimes thought to symbolize the combination of love and wisdom, the mediation between heaven or spirit (blue) and earth or body (red).” Perhaps this is why violet is so often associated with prayer, meditation, and other contemplative activities. Violet is the color of the crown chakra, linking you to the deepest sources of spiritual wisdom. Creating a Spiritual Mood with Violet or PurpleDepending on how closely you wish to attune your life with this color, you could paint a wall or a room violet or you could bring a violet blanket, pillow, or bowl into your home. Violet creates a spiritual mood of contemplation and purposeful action. If you are seeking more to life than a physical experience, adding violet objects around your home and office and to your wardrobe will act as a conscious reminder and subconscious trigger for what you are trying to accomplish. These objects can be simple, such as a pen, stone, or candle. Healing Meditation Using VioletIn How Psychic Are You? 76 Techniques to Boost Your Innate Power (Penguin Books, 2002), author Julie Soskin recommends using violet in color therapy because it “improves mental stability, helps to purify the body and raises self-esteem.” To supplement other therapies you may be undergoing, meditation on the color violet can help to calm the brain and nervous system. Find some place where you can lay down without disruption. Focus on your breathing as you feel yourself relax. Imagine enclosing yourself in a glowing sphere of color. Breathe the color into your heart and imagine the color circulating throughout your body. Start doing this activity for five minutes at a time. Extend for up to twenty minutes. An Awareness Activity Using Color Therapy If you feel the need to boost your self-esteem, take a walk, at either a mall, town center, or your own neighborhood. As you walk, focus on finding violet-colored objects. The items could be living things, such as flower, or man-made objects, like ribbons adorning a young girl’s hair. Don’t waste time debating on an object’s violet qualities, whether it is too pale or has too much red or blue in it. If it catches your eye in this activity, it is violet. Before starting your walk, you may doubt the number of violet items that you will find. However, focusing on the color will call it into clarity and you will find yourself noticing things you would have overlooked without this attention, such as the typeface on a magazine cover and the purple stuffed animal sitting in someone’s car. By engaging in an activity that avoids dwelling on your discontent with yourself and by focusing on the energetic qualities of violet, you help to balance the way you think about yourself. Use violet to remain in harmonious contact with your higher self. Whether you imagine the color, surround yourself with it, or look for instances of the color in the world, you will add to your intent to connect with sources of spiritual wisdom.
