The Power of Your ThoughtsChange Your Life from Lack to Abundance
The movement to manifest abundance is sweeping the western world. It is founded on the premise that we are co-creators of our life experience.
The concept that abundance is a choice was very effectively presented by Rhonda Byrne in her creative biography The Secret (Atria, 2006) and the film phenomenon that accompanied the book. Abundance is presented as an active choice a person can make through the power of positive thinking. If abundance is set in contrast to lack, then focusing your thoughts on what you have instead of what you lack is the key. Choose Abundance and You Will Attract AbundanceBeing grateful for what you have is a powerful tool for manifesting abundance. Byrne offers simple steps to help the reader/viewer manifest abundance:
Your Perception of Yourself Reflects Your Perception of LifeUnderlying these three simple steps is the philosophy that your perception of yourself is reflected in your life. If you believe yourself to be a happy loveable person, you will attract love and happiness into your life. The 17th century French philosopher Rene Descartes wrote about how your experience of life is unique to you. Your experience of a situation depends on your particular perspective. Imagine a snowstorm. One person may believe that a snowstorm presents an opportunity for winter fun and be filled with excitement and even joy at the thought of a huge accumulation of snow. Another person may experience the snowstorm as depressing, challenging and may feel unhappy and defeated by the event. Change Your Perception of LifeThe most powerful tool available to help you change your perception of your life is the act of being grateful. In the case of the snowstorm, gratitude is a choice to turn your attention away from the challenge of the snow to the beauty of it, or the fact that you have a warm home. From Gratitude to OpportunityExperiencing gratitude for what you have may seem trivial, but it sets up a strong internal message that fills the body with hormones very similar to those released in times of happiness. If you make gratitude a part of your life, you will quickly experience life in a new and refreshing way. Start your day by making a mental list of all the small things you are grateful for – eyes to see, glasses (if you wear them), breath, a warm bed, and any other thing, small or large, that pops into your head. You will find that starting your day this way sets up a positive intention that will help you meet frustrations with equanimity and calm. Choose Your Thoughts - Choose AbundanceThe thoughts you choose are the thoughts that create the atmosphere in which you live. Choosing thoughts of gratitude and happiness creates joy in your life. Creating joy in your life attracts more joy to you. And joy is a journey to abundance and the largeness of life. This is the key to creating the life you desire.
