Tips for Increasing IntuitionLet Your Intuition be a Voice of Guidance
Developing intuition merely takes quiet observation and practice; simply start by paying attention and allow your awareness to guide you through difficult moments.
Being in tune with your intuition is an invaluable tool that can help guide in all aspects of life. Distinguishing between the intuitive and the ego voice is a skill which can be developed through regular exercises and careful attention. Additionally, learning to trust your intuition will give you the confidence needed to follow its direction when it does not seem logical. The following are tips for learning how to increase your sensitivity to your natural intuition. Guessing GamesThe first idea for polishing intuition requires a deck of cards. Shuffle the cards and then lay them face down at random on the floor without looking at them. One by one, touch a card and say the first color that comes to mind. Make two separate piles – one for correct guesses and one for incorrect guesses. Try to notice any sensations in your body when your guess is right and when your guess is wrong. Make a note of these sensations as they may help later when you need to differentiate between the message of right and wrong or yes and no. Another idea is to get into the habit of envisioning what your destination will be like when traveling anywhere. For instance, when you are driving home, guess whether there will be any cars parked on your street and if so, what color they will be. Imagine whether or not there will be people on the sidewalk. Imagine what kind of people you will encounter or what the weather will be like (no cheating now; reading the weather forecast first doesn’t count). Additionally, before meeting someone for the first time, envision what they will look like. Close your eyes and try to imagine every appearance and personality detail. Notate your observations before the meeting and again after the meeting; compare the two sets of notes. A fourth idea is to guess who is calling whenever the telephone rings. Also, if you are expecting a package, guess what day it will arrive, or if someone has given you a present, try to imagine what might be inside. When making these “guesses,” try to feel whether or not there are any accompanying vibrations in your body. Some sensitive people may feel vibrations in their head when they think the word yes and vibrations in their diaphragm when they think the word no – or vice versa. Meditation ToolsMeditation is traditionally known as a time of silence or chanting. However, there are many good guided meditations – such as the Silva Ultramind ESP System - available for increasing sensitivity to your inner voice. Guided meditations offer the mind a distraction from wandering in anyone new to meditation. Several free guided meditations may be found at Learning Meditation. If you are new to meditation - and practicing without a guide - begin with five minutes and gradually increase your meditation time as your comfort level grows. Imagine your breath coming in as white, warm light -and then see any negativity you would like to release - leaving your body as shades of gray or dark colored light. Once you have relaxed your body, notice where you are feeling any vibrations of energy in your body. At first, it may not be apparent what skill this meditation time is developing. Yet with practice, your senses will become more in tune with the world around you, and also more in tune with your own body and mind. In conclusion, these exercises may aid in developing attention to details such as bodily sensations, honing an ability to distinguish the difference between intuition and ego.
